A new wheelchair design allows disabled scuba divers to gracefully glide through the depths and the coral gardens with ease and perform underwater aerobatic maneuvers.
Artist Sue Austin developed the underwater chair with the help of engineers and diving experts. Still at the prototype stage, the chair has its issues with bouyancy and center of gravity. It uses two thrusters under the seat and it is steered by foot operated straps and fins on each wheel.
